Following the extravagance of the recent festive session, you may be thinking of ideas to get fit and burn off that festive cheer! New ways to exercise come up all the time and these trends have changed considerably over the last decade. For example, we now know diet is extremely important when trying to get into shape, it's not just about exercising.

1) Increased Number of Home Gyms

Following the uncertainty of the pandemic, exercising at home has become more prevalent and a natural habit for many of us. In fact, a recent survey from National Association of Home Builders’ noted that home gyms are now the second most popular “speciality room” requested by homebuyers, just behind home offices.


This benefits those working from home who like to workout at lunch breaks or after a long day.


2) Hybrid Gym/ Home Fitness Programmes

Traditional gym’s offer the social aspect to exercising, therefore, it is expected fitness enthusiasts will not only work out at home, but also go to the occasional gym class to keep up their social and mental wellbeing, plus stay motivated.



3) Data Driven Performance Enhancements

According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), data from exercising will become more widespread in 2022. Wearable technology such as fitness trackers and sensors will generate analytical data used to improve fitness performance.


Previously, only an experienced fitness coaches were able to make sense of this performance data, now algorithms can crunch this big data for you and provide user friendly adaptive workout plans so you can get fitter quicker.



4) Personalised Nutrition

Personalised nutrition is already mainstream, and this will continue to grow, trending in 2022. The Fitness Industry believe the top five new fitness exercises people are interested in at the moment are:
